News June 2011

Dear Friends,

news-june-2011    Kindergarten represents an environment for the children to discover the beautiful world around her. Kindergarten is meant to begin the educating of the growing kid. At kindergarten Casa Minunata we mean to teach the kids how to share and care, make new friends and spend some time on their own, away from the warm cocoon of parents and home. Of course, kindergarten is meant to be a home away from home for the little ones. It is a great opportunity for them to learn new things on their own, ask questions and get the answers. It is a stepping-stone for future education.

Graduating from Kindergarten is a big deal. It’s the official end of the ‘baby’ years as these little ones start their journey of becoming more independent by starting grade school. Because it’s such a big deal, all our family and friends came to be a part of the kindergarten graduation ceremony. We let the kids celebrate while we put them in the spotlight.

And what a beautiful ceremony we had on this special day coinciding with the International Children’s Day! And we opened our gates to the community to come and celebrated with us. So many came! It was a happy day.

A kindergarten party after kindergarten ceremony is a wonderful way to celebrate the graduate even further and give the child a sense that people realize what a big day this is for them!

We had music and dancing, face painting and many fun competitions. The kids learned to make muffins and sandwiches looking like Disney heroes. The homemade bio burgers were very appreciated too.

It seems hard to believe that yet another year has come to its end. As we looked forward to all the challenges that lay ahead of us, it did appear a little daunting at times - a huge mountain that lay ahead of us to climb. But what a wonderful year it has been. A year of challenges met, mountains climbed and we want to acknowledge those who partnered with us in various ways: children, parents, teachers, volunteers and sponsors. You
are all so great and I just thank God for all of you.

We would like to wish you all a great summer and leave you with a thought inspired by an anonymous quote:

“Children are great imitators, so give them something great to imitate.”

Best regards,
Adriana du Plessis
